
Meet Jennifer
A Proven Community Leader
Jennifer Mahr is a 1996 graduate of the Coast Guard Academy with a Bachelor's Degree in Government. She was a deck watch officer assigned to USCGC SWEETGUM (WLB-309) in Mobile, Alabama and then attended the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University for a Master of Arts in Law and Diplomacy (MALD), specializing in Environmental Policy and U.S. Foreign Policy,
Later, Jennifer was an Instructor at the Coast Guard Academy in the Humanities Department from 2000-2004 and in the Fall of 2006. She resigned her commission in 2004 to be a stay-at-home mom, but stayed heavily involved in school fundraising events and community volunteer work. From 2012-2020, she ran a non-profit community action group focused on municipal land use in Middletown, CT. During that time, she also organized and moderated an annual “Meet the Candidates” Forum for local and state political candidates.
In January 2023, Jennifer co-founded the Middlebury Small Town Alliance to organize opposition against distribution facilities in Middlebury. She is married to Timothy Mahr (CGA ’96) and they have three children, ages 23, 19 and 15. In her free time, she loves to scrapbook, visit Connecticut's shoreline, and volunteer at Middlebury community events.
